Franklin Gear began as a trade name of BY1, LLC. In September of 2018 a line of Franklin-themed apparel & accessories launched at The Franklin Studio and online at www.franklingearnh.com. Its goal - to bolster community spirit and draw attention to Franklin's revitalization and the community's relentless drive. Since its inception, Franklin Gear was about giving back to the community. Over $3000 worth of Franklin Gear have been donated in the last two years so that, no matter your situation, all members of the community can feel involved. But community involvement is more than slogans and SWAG. So now we are changing gears! On March 1st, 2021 the tradename Franklin Gear was spun-off to form a new non-profit corporation - Franklin Gear, Inc. - A Makerspace! What is a MakerSpace? A MakerSpace is...Simply put, a place where you can make things. It's a place for hands-on learning - with all the tools for creativity. Every MakerSpace is different; but you will find a woodshop, a fabric arts studio, machine shop, 3D printers ... and more! Our MakerSpace can be...Whatever we want it to be. Like fingerprints, no two MakerSpaces are alike. Do we want electronics & robotics? How about a bicycle repair station? You can help decide! We have not nailed down the exact location yet, but it will be in Downtown Franklin! While a hammer has yet to swing, we've been busy building! We have a fabulous board of directors who have hit the ground running. We'll be announcing our first corporate sponsor soon. We aren't kidding when we say it is going to be a lot of work. And we can't do it without you! So check out the new franklingearnh.com and see how you can become involved ... and then you can say, "I made a MakerSpace!!!
